Actually it's called CeraVe - comes in different 'forms'. Best is the cream from the jar. Nothing better over-the-counter. Also I believe they make a 'severe' formula for situations like hers. I've tried everything and that works.
If that fails to give relief, she should visit a doctor for further diagnosis. I've struggled with this on and off in recent years and my situation was a reoccurring bacterial infection. The end result looked terrible and painful - the cause was not just dry skin but a combination of environmental, stress and exposure to certain things that I could not tolerate anymore.
Funny that my Doc said that it was common that as people age into their 50's - skin conditions of their hands - back and palms are more likely.
