Brent, yea updating firmware and BIOS or the UEFI is always scary. This update rebooted the system over and over to update firmware on some of the chips sets, the LED lights that I had to turn back off, and other things. The main reason I did it was it mentioned new version of the Intel RAID drivers.
Now I am still looking for a full glossary on some of the endless terms the manual mentions. I am not sure if the PCH DMI ASPM should be set to enabled or disabled, and the setting for the DMI Link ASPM Control are a mystery as well as a lot of the other settings. The manual just glosses over the terms and I have yet to figure out just what my PCH DMI ASPM even does. I have total control over it, I just want to know what it is first.
If I google each term I find: Set DMI Link ASPM Control to Enabled, to allow DMI connection to the PCH chipset to enter low power state to reduce power consumption.
