2000 911 Carrera or 2006 Boxster S?

Hey All,

Long time forum reader and first time poster. After evaluating options for a second car for recreational purposes, I've decided to add a Porsche to the garage! I'm very excited about it and I would like to get your opinions on which car to choose. As far as budget is concerned, I'm shooting for $15k-$20k.

2000 911 Carrera - after searching the 'net on all of the car sites, including here, there are ample options out there from $17k-$20k. I am leaning towards finding one that has had the IMS bearing replacement performed but I'm not locked into a 6-Speed manual transmission either. I see the 911 as THE sports car I want but....

2006 Porsche Boxster S - if I choose to purchase a Boxster, I'll pick one up that is newer and, based on a few Porsche owners I've spoken with, they actually suggest buying the Boxster over the 911. Pricing I am seeing for the '06 Boxster S is around $16k-18k, which does result in some savings.

Prior to any purchase, a PPI will be performed and all documentation, including repair records and carfax report will be reviewed.

I have great respect for members of this forum and I look forward to your feedback.

Thanks!

Gary
