I do the local food pantry thing now. Live in a relatively affluent area and it kills me that neighbors have to avail themselves of this option. Big plus for me is that I drop off food - no receipt, no name, and no mail looking for more donations.
MIL just died and gave to several organizations, mainly catholic. Her mail comes here now and I cannot believe how many organizations have gotten her data and are after money.
KC911 - my company had a donation program where employees donated via deductions, the company matched and a committee selected local charities for donations. Most contributed and we were spreading well above $100K a year around Addison, IL at a luncheon in house. The reaction of some of the recipients was often humbling and very moving. Azzclowns that bought us(TransDigm) stopped the program immediately as it was "too costly" to administer. A bloody shame.
