After reading quite a few threads on the somewhat problematic Porsche ignition switches, I endeavored to fix mine. It had been getting fussy, two or three attempts each time I started the car to get it to go "all the way." Finally, last Friday on my way to our regular Friday Porsche hang out, it gave up in front of the liquor store. I was left with all dash lights glowing, but no switching action. (I was able to push start it to get home, but had to dump the clutch in the garage to get it to turn off - even after switching the Odyssey off) From what I had read, I had it narrowed down to just the rear electrical plug-in part and ordered it from our host. The afternoon I had the part tracked to arrive, I dug in. What I found is that the rear part was fine, still had the last "spring back" in the cycle. What had happened is that the little tab that goes into the rear electrical switch part had sheared off. A complete switch was ordered, arrived part returned, and new complete switch installed. There are some really fun (NOT) mechanical feats involved here to get the old switch out, and the new one in.
I'm all back together, no issues so far.
