I was recovering from my 2nd or 3rd Total Knee replacement (left leg) and was leaving the hospital after some appointment or other, went to my 911, hoped in and turned the key, it cranked but did not fire. This was odd, also missing was the sound of the Fuel Pump pumping merrily away. I immediately suspected the fuel pump, checked fuses and relays under the hood. No luck. Turns out one of the leads (can't remember if it was the Hot or ground) had broken out of the terminal. There I was, using a factory jack to lift a car to work on without a jack stand. I put the wheel removed under the car as a safety measure and started searching for a way to secure the wire to the pump. I think I ended up pushing the wires into the terminal and found some electrical tape in the trunk that I used to secure the wire. I fired it up and was really pleased to hear it fire instantly. I put the tire back on and put the tools away - made it home 20 miles away without problems (but sweating the whole way) where I was able to make a permanent repair with a soldered terminal.
