My friend went for a routine checkup to his primary care physician and he was checking everything off the list and told him since he hadn't had his eyes checked in a long time to get an eye checkup. He had no symptoms but the short story is the first guy saw something, sent him to a specialist who sent him to Atlanta to Emery. He had a melanoma on the inside of his eyeball. They wound up putting a radioactive disc in there for 10 days ( he had to wear lead eye patch for the ten days). The tumor has shrunk but now he has to get checked regularly to make sure it hasn't spread. The bottom line is, even if you don't have eye problems a check up once in a while is a good idea.
