Sometimes people are unable to send email to my business email, which is hosted on Office with a custom domain.
They receive a message like this:
"Message not delivered
Your message couldn't be delivered to
xxxxx@xxxxxxx.com because the remote server is misconfigured. See technical details below for more information.
The response from the remote server was:
550 Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client. mail-pj1-f52.google.com [209.85.216.52]:34272 is not permitted to relay through this server without authentication."
Actually, now I can't even send myself email from my Gmail account. The quoted message above is what got bounced back to me.
This is something recent. I haven't had that problem before.
What's going on? I can't expect everyone who wants to reach me to screw with their SMTP authentication.
