Im pretty picky about WW1 movies....
This one I found ;
- Geographically incomprehensible (or incoherent - or both)
- No signs of 1600 troops staging for an attack ?(or the Germans pulling out ?) like trampled ground ? or support troops behind the (new) front line ?- or anyone guarding the rear as they listen to the singing ?
- The only live civilian he runs into happens to be a comely lass ? - of course...
- Not much of an artillery barrage by Germans setting a trap for the attack and then quickly ended
- That was a mighty short trip to the rather well appointed (for a front line) aid station - and not a round landing near it before during or after - and right out in the open.
- A general in the front line trench in WW1 ? during an offensive ??????!!!!!!
Not bloody likely - at least I have never read of any examples of that in histories or primary sources or letters.
I know I know - just a movie - and OK - but that was no Paths of Glory or All Quiet...
They Shall Never Grow Old - Extaordinary
