I bought the new Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem that my cable company said to get, and paid for the upgrade in the internet speed. I hve the full upload speed but I am only getting a "slow" 440 MBps so less than 1/2 of what they are charging me for. So I called them and they decided it was necessary to send a tech to check it out. Well I am sure they saw just what the tech saw, a real noise issue somewhere. So a good tech came out and rebuilt the box outside on my wall. It is all nice and neat, and everything is lined up like a OCD person did it. It looks good, and still has the issue. So today a supervisor is coming out.
From my modem I have the Cat 5E cable that came with the modem connected to the router, and from that one of my Cat6 cables to the switch, and one of my Cat6 cables to my computer.
I set up a second switch on top of the desk for now to make it easier for the techs to see what is going on. My normal switch is on a shelf in the back of the desk cabinet and I have to pull some hard drives and other computer stuff I store in there out of the way to see the switch, and stick my head up inside the cabinet to see my normal setup. It is all out of the way and just does it thing.
The temp setup is just to let them see it is not my setup.
