Honestly my favorite of the 986 and 987 is the Cayman. They are stiffer and quite frankly I’m more of a coupe guy. The Boxster is also a great car I just never put the top down. I find the Boxster to be a bit more playful with the Cayman being a bit more tied down and overall a slightly better handler. Cayman also gets the edge in practicality due to the large hatch area. I don’t know about Canada but I’m the USA you can find a base Cayman in good shape with moderate mileage for about $15k. Also moving from 986 to 987 you get a nicer interior and more HP out of the base engines. I had a base 2005 Boxster and felt it was plenty quick.
