I think you're looking at 2 separate items here. The 3 bladed tool was one item, the snap pouch another. . . Looks to me like somebody put these two items together. If you haven't figured it out yet, the pivot point should screw apart. It was screwed back together through the key hole, so the key could rotate in and out of the pouch...kind of like a jack knife blade functions.
