Carb linkage Weber vs Empi Hpmx

Hi again folks

For years I ran 40mm empi Hpmx carbs on my 2.0 L and was very happy with them. I also had bought some 40mm Webers for my other 914 2.0L and now the time has come to put those Webers on my newly restored 914. The carb linkage on the Webers are such that the throttle plate linkage assembly opens away from the center of the engine, thus the hex bar would not work with the associated linkage. I looked at the linkage of the throttle ends of the Empi Hpmx carbs and found that if I switched the end assemblies to the Webers then I have a working setup.

Is this common when buying Weber IDF’s for type 4’s and 914’s. Would this be something that you have to buy separately for most linkage (hexbar and other associated linkage assembly) to work on Webers.

Thanks for reading
