There is no such thing as clean energy, except sunshine. Solar energy just pushes the pollution to Chinese manufacturing areas. I bet that supply chain is in disarray with the coronavirus.
All forms of energy used to keep our houses comfortable, and push our cars around, and keep the businesses running and the farms operating require lots of energy in usable forms. They all create pollution. Coal is real dirty, but it is cheap and abundant. Same for petroleum. Wind energy requires lots of windmills changing the skyline, and lots of maintenance and they are expensive to install.
Nuclear is the real answer but the public learned of Nukes from Hiroshima and think it will happen at every plant. Nuclear is far from cheap, but can be done with Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors but that will cost a lot to do.
Nuclear fusion is the great hope but it has been "20 years out" for the last thirty years, and it will make Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors look cheap.
Maybe someday we will have cheap clean energy, but don't hold your breath waiting for it.
