The finale:

Ok, so on Monday the school tells him he is going to the New England's. He goes to practice all week thinking he is going. Friday comes and an hour before they are leaving they tell him he can't go because he didn't qualify. I can't express how mad I am at them and how sad I am for my son. Wife talked to him on the phone after the news and said he sounded like he was ready to ball.

The additional kicker here is when he wrestled in the semi's, he was up 5-2 or 7-2 and had the other kid on his back for 30 seconds or so with a head an arm. Looked like a pin to me but I was on the other side of the circle and I am probably a bias parent. Period runs out and new period starts. He tries some move and falls on his back with the other kid on top. Junior immediately bridges onto head and toes. Having mat awareness he pushes the two out of bounds but drops onto his back to launch out of bounds. The ref calls it a pin. The rule says the referee needs to get into position to look at the shoulder blades and secondly, have a silent 2.5 second count, Neither happened. Rule is to allowed the opportunity to fight off your back. The other kid goes on to win the tournament. Jr places 3rd. Ugh.
Morale of the story is stay off your back when you have fat, older referees. If you have ringworm, hide it if possible (sort of in Jest). Lastly, as a parent; be there when the weight test at the beginning of the season occurs to call BS at ridiculous results.
