Actually the VW was a beige. I did not care what color it was, I was shopping price, and it was discounted. $2,500 brand new. After a year, and 12,000 miles I traded it back to the same dealer and got 2 grand for it on my 914.
The 914 was a special order, and I knew exactly what I wanted. I would have loved a Gulf Blue but that was a special paint to order and almost doubled the price. Olympia Blue was as close as I could get.
If I had a time machine I wish I could have my 911 made from new in Gulf Blue, with no sunroof. I am not sure how I could convince the first owner to get it that way. He was an airline pilot is all I have heard.
