Cars are an irrational hobby.
It’s nice to see a guy just diving in and taking on this big of a project. Cars are, and will continue to be, a poor investment strategy. I would take this kid over a thousand guys who want to stand around and talk about car values. There is a direct connection between new guys coming into this hobby, and our ability to find reproduction parts.

There is nearly nothing on these cars you can’t do yourself if you are willing to learn and spend the time. I can think of plenty of times in my life that I didn’t have the $1500 to pay a mechanic for 10hrs of his time.... but had 20 hours of my own that I could spend learning. You also can’t put a value on the fact that you end up knowing a car inside and out when you are this deep in it. When you hear a noise you picture in your minds eye each nut, bolt, and sub assembly.

Good for this guy. I hope he keeps after it!
