Powder coating involves spraying a fine plastic powder at a metal part that has been electrostatically charged (so it attracts the powder like static cling in clothes). Once the part is covered with the powder the part is baked, during baking the powder melts and forms a shiny, durable coating.

Anodizing is when a layer of oxidation is grown on the outside of aluminum alloy parts. The aluminum oxide is harder than the alloy underneath. Because the oxide is porous it can be dyed different colors.

I don't think anything on our cars is powder coated unless a previous owner has done it.

Stock Fuchs are Anodized (the black and the clear, I believe).

Most everything else is either cadmium plated (goldish finish on nuts and bolts) or painted.
