I sometimes carry the 1911 in a shoulder rig when I wear a sport/suit coat. With regular clothes I carry kidney because it is too big for appendix.
The shoulder rig is most comfortable and discreet, but least easy to draw from.
Now, if only I had a .44 with a loudener like Sledge Hammer used to carry...
