Hi,
These are the older design which are a slip fit. If you look closely at the first picture you can see the interface. I believe the new vband design was to make it easier to remove and reinstall the rear section with the turbo and wastegate.
I'm sure there are a few guys out there that appreciate the ability to swap out the turbo with a little more ease, but if you plan on just doing the job once, I'm not sure how much the new design buys you.
