Anyone drive an older Ford Ranger - Suspension Questions

I bought a 2011 Ford Ranger. I like the looks and I'm able to haul just about anything. But, I was really surprised how terrible the suspension is; the truck rocks back an forth when exiting a driveway and the rear hops whenever you hit potholes. It's a 2wd XLT and has coil suspension in the front.

That said, I installed new Bilstein shocks and it made no difference (even though the orig shocks were pretty shot). I have purchased but not yet installed new rear leaf springs and front/rear sway bars.

I'm just wondering what other Ford Ranger owners have experienced and is this what the truck was like when it was new. Granted, I'm use to driving Porsches but this suspension is pretty bad. The truck has 108k miles and is otherwise in excellent condition.
