I just sold my 2wd 2004 Ranger last year. It had 160K miles on it. I never thought the suspension was lacking at all...but my Ranger had the Edge package. Not sure what all the difference that made.
Sure..sometimes the rear end would break loose over bumps or potholes, but I never carried weight in the back until winter came. Absolutely needed the extra weight in the snow.
I would give it some time. Rangers have other good qualities that grow on you.
