I was trying to figure out how to get my dad a copy of "Tombstone". No WiFi in their house. Only cable at the beach house no WiFi. WiFi at their office, but no smart TV. I have a smart TV for them to watch at my office, but that means they have to manage to learn how to use the remote and manage to stay put and not fall asleep.
So the only real viable option is: (1) DVD player as Noah suggests; (2) DVD disc.
An 80-yo person doesn't want to learn new tech just to watch a movie. They'll just skip the movie.
