Thanks all!
My wife and I were discussing this last night- and tablet is probably the way to go. The key is keeping it easy enough for him to access it. He is not tech savy. My wife was thinking loading it up with stuff and sending it to him.
I also like the portable DVD idea. I think I might even have one laying around here somewhere.
