More gratuitous Guards Red pics

Not that the project is anywhere near close to me dropping the motor back into the engine bay, but having started the cleaning one unseasonably warm day this past week, and always being one for some instant gratification, I reached for the always effective Norton Automotive Refinish products...

...and titivated the lovely German paint with just hand work; no power tools needed.

I also cleaned out the coolant expansion tank, which is dated 1987 so, I assume, likely original to the car. It wasn't awful inside but had patches of dried gunge that was likely some sort of glycol-loving mold from some years ago.

I did this with hot tap water, Simple Green and lots of shaking.

It came out rather nice.

I'll be replacing the water pump and all the coolant hoses, but in the meantime will do a similar cleaning exercise with the car's radiator.
