Armed with my window motor (freshly greased in the worm-wheel area) and my applicable bolts, I took a stab at re-installing my reg and motor this evening.

I took the opportunity to also make a soft-stop on the door-full-open position on the “door stay” - I think that the piece that fell out of there when I was working away was someone’s home-brewed stop that would allow the door to open just before full open, and not blast against the stay, because it does not look like the door-stay reinforcement kit was ever installed on this car.

Moving along, I chipped away at this job slowly because I have time to kill right now (ie: I was working slow and calculated). Now that “life” is on hold and everything is cancelled for the time being; I am working from home, and there is a distinct chance that I will not be playing baseball this summer, I find that working with my hands helps me get my mind away from these “the world is on hold right now” thoughts.

I have more aligning to do, but I think there is also work to be done on the targa top to close the gaps. I also tested the window about 73 times to see if there was a considerable difference: yes. The window goes up and down at a much more reasonable pace. I also have a couple of other little parts being shipped from our host, so: I will not completely button the driver side up until I get that stuff in the mail. For the moment: here is where we are (enjoy the pics).

One question I’d like to ask others who have embarked on this journey is: when you change directions on the motor/switch: is there a lot of ‘lash’ noticed? There is a split second where the glass does not move when I change directions, and it makes a little bump sound before the glass moves. Perhaps my rear guide rail needs to be adjusted?
