Had something similar a few years back with Fairmont Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, the wife was not felling good, turn out to be bronchitis.
I call to say that while I knew that it was non refundable (which the operator mentioned that unfortunately it was) but I told I just called to say not to expect us and they could put it back on the market.
Without a call from them, 2 months later it was totally refund. Told the wife that it was my charming approach... She almost lost her supper as in
