His sentence was commuted by POTUS. Originally 14 years; he was released after 8 years. He is still a convicted felon and will be reporting to a probation/parole officer. Must find a job and no more politics so I believe lobbying is not an option.
Personally, I think he deserved the commutation as 14 years seemed excessive, even for a dirtbag like him. Especially when compared to the sentences of our previously jailed ex-governors; Otto Kerner. Dan Walker, George Ryan. Probably will not be the last in a line of distinguished IL politicians to do time. Not that we have a corruption problem in the home of "The Chicago Way" or anything.
