Pepper is glad she got to go to vet/groomer. They told me she was having alergy problems. With her it manifests itself by her getting a little itchy and having ear infections. Besides getting all cleaned up with an bath and comb out, she is all drugged up with antibiotics and anti-itch pills. Thank goodness she likes those pill hider treats. Sleeping most of the time since getting home.
My first golden, Penny, had allergy problems except her skin got much itchier and swole up to where she looked like a shar pei. Had to keep a benadyl syringe around for her. Turned out she was allergic to FLEAs! Found out when she had a reaction after leaving a friends. On the way to the car she went next door and smelled a bush. Only a couple of seconds. When we got home her skin was swollen and she was scratching like crazy. I picked over 400 fleas off her, gave her a flea bath and a benadryl shot. Had to follow up with benadryl pills (like people take) for several days. Vet said yep, allergic to fleas. I ended up going to a feed store and getting a cow flea and tick ear tag. Cut it in strips and put them inside a nylon collar. Didn't have much trouble after that, evidently those cow tags are pretty strong.
May have to make a collar for Pepper to see if it is fleas or not. Her bites seem to be on her head and neck instead of her lower back near her tail like Penny.
I'm okay as long as my commute path doesn't go over the couch.
