Gas Tank Installation (resolved)

Good day to all from NE Connecticut,

I may have been a tad glib when others described their dislike for the torque tube job, but I've found a task that I am finding immensely loathsome ... the reinstallation of the fuel tank.

I've watched Spencerdog's helpful YouTube video (and received the required bit of sealing foam from the incredibly gracious pfarrah), but my problem is that I cannot shift the tank the final inch forward (Austin Powers: "Oh beehave!")

This is best illustrated by the position of the sending unit relative to its port in the trunk floor.

I've used lengths of wood and even a prybar (eeek ...) and had a good look and feel around for obstructions; I have made sure the tank is centered; I can connect the two retaining straps; I did cut the two lengths of hose for the tank vent to the original size and even used oetiker clamps to keep them out of the way, BUT, the tank is a good 3/4" to 1" too far to the rear of the car.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance, John
