Sooo...shop owner has a complete numbers matching '69 MGC-GT with factory overdrive and fabric sunroof (extremely rare). Car is on a rack inside a Conex box so I was able to look all under it...body is solid and as rust free as they come. It's complete but engine/trans are out sitting next to it. I might be dragging that one home this weekend to restore. Ugh. Too good to pass up. A C-GT's has always been my dream MG..and and MGC even more rare. Ugh again.
That's too bad on the 65. Back in the late 80's the BMH introduced full replacement body shells. I don't know if that program is still alive but in theory, you could take your nice components on a rusted out car and swap them over. I know nothing is that simple but I wonder if it might be a solution for this 65 if everything on the car is worth saving.

Good luck with the MGC-GT. Cool cars!
