I don't have it often. I'm not sure why, but I grew up with it. As a kid, I mostly had cottage cheese with fruit, usually peaches, pineapple or pears, sometimes fruit cocktail.
My dad used to make what we called a dip with cottage cheese. IIRC, it was blended in a blender until it was smooth, then grated carrots, chopped bell pepper, chopped green onions and a bunch of black pepper were added. I think he'd eat it in a bowl with a spoon, but I used it as a dip for potato chips, I think.
I think my mom also used it in lasagna instead of ricotta.
Every once in a while I'll get a craving and get some, but we don't keep it around. No specific reason, possibly other than that I don't think anyone else eats it.
