A lot of art has some underlying message (political, ethical etc). A lot of artists paint landscape after landscape after landscape. I just enjoy painting cars.
As for commercial gain vs busywork...well its a little bit of both.
I started painting cars for fun a few years ago. It turned into a small following on instagram and then I started doing private commissions. I've done a few car shows here and there in Atlanta and had some success with it.
I was invited to be one of the featured artists at Concours in Cincinnati this year so I wanted to paint something big and colorful that would grab your attention from across the room. That's what this was for.
Unfortunately Concours has been cancelled due to COVID19, but I still wanted to share the end result with people that would appreciate it so I decided to time lapse it and post it on the internet.
I'm glad it found its way here, lol. And I spilled enough black paint under my easel that it looks like it leaked oil.
