Yeah it's a shame we won't get to see her make her past self look inadequate compared to her today and future self but she's got nothing left to prove.

True, but it's not like these people get paid millions, especially the Olympic athletes that you've never heard of. At least the famous ones can get endorsement money. They all basically give up four years of their lives to train, and some of them only get one shot at a medal. The window for being at your athletic peak isn't that big.
