UPDATE FROM ELISSA.....

"Could everyone please keep me and my family in your thoughts? COVID-19 is affecting all transplant patients here at Duke.
With the no visitors rule currently in place everyone that gets a call for transplant now and in the near future has to go through the whole process COMPLETELY by themselves. No caregiver. No family. No visitors. They can only drop you off at the door and the only support you will get is to communicate by phone which isn’t necessarily a guarantee either.
To say I’m scared is an understatement. I’m still trying to wrap my mind around it and to come to terms with it.
Currently I’m “status-7” and will be back active on the list this next week. I’ve been told transplants are happening at a record time with minimal wait. Especially since Duke isn’t taking on many evaluations or having people relocate at this time. Wait times that could potentially take months is happening in days.
All I can hope for is that the rules for no visitors lifts sooner than later so I’m not going through my transplant all by myself in the hospital. 😞"
