We have to make decisions with the data we have. To get to 10% we would need another month at a million tests a day and we at about 150,000 a day now.
We don't have a month to wait. We have data showing daily cases and deaths going down.
Once we slowly reopen state by state we will need testing, and more important, tracking of new case contracts. If we are only testing to put another chalk mark in a column we are wasting our time.
It will be a labor intensive task. Oklahoma has a volunteer network, Ready Help Go that will go into place once we back off of limitations. I threw my name in the pot yesterday. Hopefully there will be things I can do from home to help out.
Hello Phil,
On behalf of Governor Stitt and the Department of Human Services, we thank you for signing up from the safety of your home.
We know it’s easy to feel helpless in a time of national crisis. We also know it’s difficult to know how to help your neighbor and abide by social distancing.
But by simply letting us know your skills and your contact information, you’ve already done your community a great service.
We are so grateful for courageous Oklahomans that raise their hand when needed most. We will connect you to opportunities to volunteer your time and skills when it’s safe to do so using your preferred contact method.
Until then, we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram as we continue to roll out new information about Ready. Help. Go.
Keep an eye out for another update from Ready. Help. Go. in about a week as we continue to learn more about our state’s needs and how you are uniquely equipped to help.
Thank you.
