Thanks for the suggestions. So the black wire is 12v constant with ignition on.
I checked everything carefully and there was some damage to the green wire which i have cut out and was hoping was the problem, however it appears everything now checks out perfectly and the problem from the DME to the green wire is still the same, which suggests the DME has developed a fault so i have sent it back to the people that refurbed it as it has a lifetime warrantee and will see what they come back with.
