Today; I received the butyl caulk in the mail, and I used a total of about 16 inches of the 50 feet (!!) by re-creating this gasket:

I then decided that I needed to test my work. ... I took it on a corona-cruise. It was not a very long drive, just to the highway and back so that I could get her up to speed to see if I addressed all the wind noise. IT is MUCH better. As in: I can hear myself think now. However, we have a little more dialing-in to do on the top itself.

There is about a 1mm gap that is above the vent window on the driver’s side, and the glass system is as high as it will go.

It’s tough to capture in a picture, but its there.

SO: I watched the YouTube vid again (in German) and watched the guy fix the targa seals, and one of the areas he addresses is the side seal on the top, he puts a shim in there (additional rubber, I can only assume) and the seal is then watertight.

Now the decision is: do we go in for these (glass top) seals now as well? Or attempt to work with what’s there?
