That hemispheric ball wears out quickly if the rubber cover is compromised and this one was.
The whole time it sounded like a rattle in the top mechanism. The sound always seemed to originate much higher in the car than where it was. It was worn about 10 thousandths and made a decent amount of racket. Only on bumpy streets.

Interesting. Does it sound like a loose that came off sitting on something? Now you got me really curious. How to get under is another issue, need to make friend with someone with an alignment type rack.
