Mac amps are good, but they also had some really horrible solid-state amps that still used output transformer in their loop. Don't ask me why...
One day, i'm going to find enough time to make the definitive amp for myself (i have built quite many transistor and tube amps in younger days):
Dual mono tube OTL amp with lots of Sovtek triodes.
