That happened to me once. After narrowing down the location to a specific bank of cylinders, I jacked up just that side, removed the valve covers and checked all the valves. One of them had quite a large gap. I re-adjusted that one and buttoned it all back up and my extra clicking was gone.
I got lucky as it was on the right side to make it easier to access everything so I was done in a half hour. I didn't even need to drain the oil with the car jacked on one side.
