I was looking through the Amazon movies trying to find something to watch. I came across one called "Red Dog" and it is a story of a guy that was the son of stripper in the late 70s and 80s that danced at the Red Dog.
The movie is a documentary, and it catches up with the guys mom, and her many different husbands over the years, and the other strippers. Not one of them has aged well. They showed old photos and the hotties had burned up big time. Too much booze, every drug know to humans, and smoking. It was an eye opening peek into the life as they called it "on the outside" of society. A life I am so glad I was not part of!
The Red Dog is a infamous strip club in Oklahoma City. In 1978 I moved to OKC and was single. All of my co-workers were married, and had their lives to live. I asked one of the guys what is the place to go on Friday night? Remember I did not know anything about OKC then. He suggested the Red Dog, and it was easy to get to, just a few miles from work. So off I go. When I walked up there was some cover charge and that got you the first beer. I walked in and it was a total dive, strip joint. Back then it was 100% full nude. So I sat down and ordered my beer. I looked at the wall and noticed the back of the men in the bathroom using the urinal. There was a huge hole ripped in the wall from a fight where someone was thrown through the wall. The floor was sawdust, but the beer was cold. Then I noticed a very large guy at the bar with spiked bracelets, spiked dog collar, and a t-shirt what had one work on it, "the" f-word of course. I finished my beer and left.
I would bet most heterosexual men in OKC have been there at least once. I used to drive right past it on my way to and from work. I stopped a few times after it burned down and they improved it a lot. They had video games and a entire game room upstairs. It is still open I presume, but I have not been there in 30+ years.
