Finally installed the crown molding above the new kitchen cabinets. The guy who built the new cabinets to match the old ones is a genius and an artist, but he bailed before finishing the crown molding.
I hate this kind of work. I'm not good at it - at all.
The ceiling was as wavy as a roller coaster. No way I could make it fit tight so I didn't even try.
Also, the molding I had to use was left over from the cabinets that had been removed. I had only enough left over molding to do the job with about 5 or 6 inches to spare. I COULD NOT make a mistake. No do-overs at all. The chances of finding molding of the right profile and getting it stained right (by me) were about 0.
I made this little jig to simulate the junction between the wall and the ceiling. I made some dummy molding to try out cuts to make sure I didn't make any wrong ones.
By the skin of my teeth I go the whole thing done with a few inches of molding to spare.
