don't waste your time unless you just want to learn about the turbo.
i did one strictly as a learning experience. i was fine with spending the $100 on a rebuild kit knowing that i would likely still send it be rebuilt. and i did.

I did the same thing for the same reason, on a 7200 11.11. Marked and reinstalled the turbo wheels in exactly the same position they were in prior to removal, hoping and praying with crossed fingers that the balance would be good. The rebuild itself was not difficult but DIY balancing can't be done. It's still sitting on the shelf, have yet to install it. Most likely it will work fine for a period, then start smoking like a chimney. Not sure I want to go through the effort of installing just to see if I was successful.
