The doorbell rang a while back. It was a guy working for a a company that is a subcontractor for the city. They were once again looking for the sewer manhole covers. He said the map shows it as in my back yard. I told him the map is wrong, and I can show them where it really is. I was just about to go run a quick errand and I had my shoes on. I walked to the association common area, and said it should be about right...... There. They poked with the probe and thunk, hit it. So they poked around trying to find the edges. They had to uncover it, and lift the lid. So I watched as they uncovered it from the sediment in the runoff that the rain deposited. It was easily 5 inches deep.
They measured how deep it was 7' 8" and the direction of flow from my back yard then to the north. Then they took photos of the insides of it. I asked if I could have some for Facebook and they laughed. I did not really want any copies in case you were wondering.
They thanked me for saving them the time to search for it. Likely the most interesting thing for me to do today.
