Well damn near burned it down last night. Was installing LED license plate frame and it works great. That is the first time I have had the headlights on for more than about 10 seconds. Previously I just turned them on, flashed the brights, saw it was working and turned them off. This time they were on for about a minute and smoke started coming out from under the dash!!!...after I crapped myself I quickly disconnected the battery and pulled out the headlight switch. Feel very fortunate because had I been out driving and not in my garage I believe I very likely would have lost the car. That would have been a real pisser to burn it down on day 2!
Ordered a new switch. BTW the cheapest one I could find was $430. That is freaking ridiculous. Have my engineer buddy coming over and we are gonna test everything very thoroughly before installing the new one. Spoke with Dennis and he gave me some tips and a suggested inline fuse to add so will be dong that as well.
