Got my 944 a few months ago, and just did my first oil change.

Here are my first impressions, which I am sure you all have similar experiences.

1) this car is damn low. was hoping to have the drivers jack up and lean it to help with oil flow. it was hard to wriggle to it and have the catch pan in place. Tight.

2) the drain plug and the oil housing is quality. Nice materials and solid manufacturing.

3) the oil filler cap is nice and wide...AMEN but its plastic. Oh well.

4) the oil dip stick position is under wires/hoses, so you have to maneuver it around and possibly drip oil on stuff.

5) oil filter - you all know. WHy? I tried drilling the hole in the top to help drain.. but to no avail. Went with Mahle replacement.

went with the 20W50 and took 6 quarts to about midway on the dip stick. Will monitor now, and guess on the next interval since my odo is broke.
