Morning all . Greetings from the UK, it’s been a while.
I’ve restarted putting my 1966 912 lhd US spec coupe back together again after a very long period of inactivity .
Doing the steering rack and installing Turbo Tie rods - got the old rods off after a lot of grunting and cursing and constant pelican forum searches . Heat did the trick .
On one end of the 65 steeri g rack is a curved protrusion which doubles as a boot spring spacer and looks like a shield with a hole in it . I can’t remember what the hell the hole is for . I’m just wondering if I need to put it back or if it’s now redundant . Any help appreciated
