I went inside one of those once at an aviation museum outside of Fort Worth. It was a marvel of mechanical engineering, with twin radial (tank?) engines, and so many drive shafts it looked rather deadly inside for the poor passengers.
Come to think of it, I wonder how would they keep the engine speeds synched?
