Porsche themselves created number of Audi V8 swapped 911s as factory prototypes. They literally took some 964 and stuffed the Audi V8 in the rear and had front mounted radiators similar to the Boxster.

I tried to find the article cut I couldn’t. There was an article in one of the Porsche magazines about it.

But TBH, the Audi V8 really isn’t all that great of a motor. It’s pretty big and heavy compared to the LS, and doesn’t have anywhere near the power potential of the LS.

A cool swap would be the VW Golf R32 V6. This is an incredibly compact and light weight engine that makes tons of power right out of the box.
